Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major)

The Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) is Britain's most common woodpecker and is found throughout most of Europe. They breed between May & June & build a new nest every year. This was my first known sighting of a woodpecker, so I was a bit excited by the sight to say the least. I could have spent the full day just watching her.
