Wast Water

Wast Water is England's deepest lake and is overlooked by England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike. The Southern shoreline is a very dramatic almost sheer drop from Illgill Head & Whin Rigg known as The Screes.

The seashore type landscape attracts many seabirds such as a colony of black-headed gulls.
