Blackbirds (Turdus merula)

The blackbird (Turdus merula) is one of, if not the most common garden bird in Britain. It is native found throughout Europe and easily recognised by it's strong, tuneful song which often usually dominates the dawn chorus. They are particularly territorial birds and often seen defending their territory with somewhat extreme displays of aggression.

The male is all black with an orange beak and the female is brown with an orange beak.
