Adult Starlings (Sturnus Vulgaris)

The starling (Sturnus vulgaris) is widespread thoughout the UK and many parts of Europe. In towns & inner city areas, it has a reputation as a pest due to it's scavenging from such places as bins.

It's nearly black with white spotty plumage in Winter becomes a striking purplish gloss in Summer.

The starling usually have two broods in a year. This is the first brood of 2008.
