The house sparrow (Passer domesticus) doesn't appear to be the nation's favourite bird due to it's lack of colour. There has been a dramatic decline in numbers of house sparrows in recent years, primarily due to modern house building. They build nests in holes and creveices in older buildings or anywhere else they can.

The Male House Sparrow has light grey underparts and grey crown. It's black bib is a status symbol; the larger the bib, the higher his importance!
