At the Carling Academy, Newcastle, 8/4/06

It's difficult to take a steady picture at any rock gig. To take a steady pic at a Placebo gig, particularly in Newcastle, is almost impossible! The Carling Academy played host to Cebo's Newcastle leg of the Meds tour; a great venue, not too big to lose the intimacy and not too small to be TOO squashed. There's also plenty of bars and one either side of the stage. The crowd rocked more than Rocky Robin himself! Unfortunately on this occasion, Placebo seemed unwilling to return the crowd's enthusiasm. Brian and Stefan appeared somewhat static on stage with a strange mutual respect for each other's territory. Steve? Where was he? Apparently too busy playing drums to make a single appearance. With very little verbal interaction, Stefan's non-verbals and gay dancing appeared to be the only form of communication aimed at the crowd .....apart from the music. Somehow, this odd scenario seemed to fuel the crowd's appetite for more or maybe this was the crowd saying they want to be here even if the band doesn't. Admittedly the band played an excellent set musically and I have to thank Stefan for re-posing for my camera when he noticed he'd moved amid my taking a pic! Bless him......

(unfortunately, these pics were taken on the old camera!)

Mr. Brian Molko:

And that was that. I'd already moved to the other side to where there was some movement onstage after the first two pics!

Mr. Stefan Olsdal: You can see from the first pic why he's also known as the Albatross!

Below: Reach For The Stars (Steps) meets Atlas!

Below: Skinny Schwarternegger (Only kidding Stef!)

Below is THE RE-POSED SHOT! Thanks a million Stef!

Below: The only pic of the night with Stefan & Brian anywhere near each other; maybe they'd had a tiff?
