Bullfinches (Pyrrhula pyrrhula)

The bullfinch is a partial migrant favouring woodland but commonly found in gardens. Both sexes have a black cap. The male boasts a bright red breast & underparts, while the female is more of a pink/grey.

Chaffinches (Fringilla coelebs)

The chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) is probably our most common finch. It is found throughout Europe with the exception of the far North and common in gardens, farmland and woodland.

Goldfinches (Carduelis carduelis)

The goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis) is perhaps our most strikingly colourful finch. Common throughout Europe, except the North, the goldfinch favours areas with deciduous trees.

The goldfinch was a very occasional visitor to our garden but now one of our most regular visitors. All of these pictures were taken in our back garden.

Greenfinches (Carduelis chloris)

The Greenfinch (Carduelis chloris) is a regular visitor to our garden. Again, they're widespread throughout Europe, except for the far North.
