Hellvellyn's Views

Lake District & North East England Photography

Ennerdale

I was once criticised by a Cumbrian for not exploring the Western Lakes so I decided to post views of Ennerdale Water, the most western lake. As my base is usually in Keswick or around Windermere when visiting the Lake District, I chose to take the scenic route across Honister Pass from Keswick and Wrynose & Hardknott Passes from Windermere. Both routes boast spectacular views and scenery as well as providing the opportunity to practice some challening driving skills. I intend to make a page of Lakeland Drives over the coming year and there will be some pictures taken on these drives later in this section.

The first picture was taken from Broadmoor and shows Bowness Knott and Great Borne across the lake.

This picture was taken from near the same spot and shows Angler's Crag on the right.

The view South-East from the same area with Steeple, Scoat Fell and Haycock in the distance.

The view West through the trees on the lakeshore.
