Elter Water is one of the smaller of the "lakes" in the Lake District. It is situated in the Langdale valley and fed by Langdale Beck. It's easy access and well maintained footpath makes it popular with families with small children and wheelchair users.
There is a National Trust owned car park in the hamlet of Elterwater, where the path begins alongside farm land rich with livestock. On this occasion, we were lucky enought to see newborn lambs in the fields. The path follows Langdale Beck through woodland to Elter Water, and provides syunning views of Langdale Pikes.

The swans weren't too keen on the noise from porrly controlled children.
